May 24, 2011: Here is Kaylee with her awards from the 6th grade awards assembly at the end of the school year. Her awards included: Academic Excellence (4.0), CA Jr Scholarship Federation Honor Award, Academic Festival Winner (Fiesty Kittens) - her favorite award!, Language Arts from Mr. Stoehr. In December 2010, the school did awards at the end of the first semester. Her awards at that assembly included: Honor Roll (4.0), Language Arts from Mr. Stoehr, Pre-Algebra from Mr. Stomatolatos, and Social Studies from Mrs. Stickel.
Her favorite recognitions during 6th grade came from "Dining with Diamonds". Each teacher is allowed to invite one student to a special lunch each semester. She was invited both semesters! She was invited by Mrs. Sproul, her science teacher, 1st semester, and by Mr. Stoehr, her language arts teacher, 2nd semester. She never brags or even says very much about any honor or recognition. In fact, I was most proud of the fact that she was very worried about receiving the honor twice. She thought other students should get to have that experience.
By her behavior, Kaylee teaches what humility should look and sound like.
